Series 2a rebuild |
I found an old Series 2a with history for a cheap
price for sale. It was a 1963 series 2a. It spent its first 10 year in the
forces. Then was registered for road use. The following week i was offered
an immaculate series 3. I say immaculate in the sense that the body work was
very straight. It had been painted by handbrush. It looked a mess but for
£150 I could not say no. I wanted to keep the older one because of the
age (tax exempt). My bright idea was to use the good stuff from the series
3 to rebuild the series 2a. All well and good except for the bulkhead! Anyway,
I started.
I kept the axles, engine and chassis from the 2a. The brakes and oil seals
were shot to bits and needed to be replaced. The chassis was scrubbed and
repainted.
One of my other plans was to build it as an off roader, only my rangie came
along in between!
