They actually only did the bone graft
without the rebreaking of old fractures. The original idea was to unpick the
fractures around the ankle area and straighten the angle that my foot had
grown too. When straightened it would be held in place by pins and plates
etc. My surgeon, Mr Hook, deceided after cutting me open, that the lower part
of my ankle had healed really well and that the risk of unpicking these old
fractures was too great. He did, however, make a hole in my tibia and scrape
all the crap bone away. He then refilled and packed new bone into the void
(bonegraft). This should enable what was the non-union to reunite and grow
strong again. Pic number '19012006(002).jpg' was taken at 2am after plenty
of morphine. I felt rotten and thought that a picture was in order so I could
see what state i was in.
