At the last meeting (Brick Kiln Competition) all was going well. I knew my bulkhead
bodymounts were a bit useless as I needed a crowbar to lift the airbox out from
under the bulkhead. The following day i took the car to work to clean and blast
the radiator out. The clutch started to play about, I couldn't get it out of
gear.... I now realised it was time to give it a going over, well the front
end anyway! After close inspection it seems the front inner wings have seen
better days. I'll change them as well. Taking these off and the engine out will
make the repair of the bodymounts much easier. So, after a tidy up at home.....
and a few parts ordered from Paddocks, the start is made.
Out with the Highlift and Highlift Cradle and a start is made on the underside.
Gearbox/engine bolts are undone. Realising that this was a silly place to start
I proceeded with the very front. Headlights etc...
Boxes of parts arrive. Wings etc...
Wing is off.
Ok, with the wing off i can see just how bad the bodymount is. Not that i didn't
have a clue. It has completly rusted through and dropped so that the bulkhead
is resting on the chassis.
I proceed with taking the other wing off.
This now exposes the other side bodymount. In the same condition as before.
Note the hydraulic clutch pipe is resting on the chassis mount. Not a good thing!
Off with the front bumper. Its damn heavy!!!!
Bumper is far too heavy to lift on my own
I only took this picture to help me remember where the altenator wires go.
